HIRING: Managing Editor

The Connersville News Examiner weekly newspaper is seeking a Managing Editor to lead all local editorial operations for its print and digital platforms, including news, sports, and opinion coverage serving Connersville and Fayette County.

This position oversees daily newsroom operations, supervises reporting staff and freelance contributors, edits content for accuracy and style, and manages content planning and production by deadline. The Managing Editor creates weekly content budgets, schedules online and print coverage, leads special sections, and collaborates with paginators on layout needs. This role also contributes reporting and writing as needed.

The Managing Editor represents the News Examiner within the community and serves as the primary point of contact for reader questions or concerns related to editorial content.

The Connersville News Examiner is part of the Southern Indiana News Group (SING). This position reports to the SING/MA Group Editor and works collaboratively with sister publications as coverage areas overlap.

Qualifications: Prior newsroom management experience required; reporting and writing experience preferred. Strong organizational and time management skills are essential. Candidates must communicate effectively by phone and email and be comfortable editing digital photos and using browser-based publishing tools.

Position: Full-time, 40 hours per week; salaried, overtime-exempt. Full-time benefits package. Starting salary $36,000-$40,000, based on relevant experience and qualification.
