HSPA hosts a legal hotline to provide newspapers strategic guidance and resources to navigate state and federal law and has partnered with the Reporter’s Committee for the Freedom of the Press Local Legal Initiative for legal services. | Each year the Hoosier State Press Association and Foundation celebrates its members work by sponsoring the Better News Contest and encourages its members to submit their papers, articles, and photography for consideration. At the same time, the association serves as a unified distributor of news to Indiana’s newspapers for organizations wishing to share information or journalism across Indiana. | HSPA has been a persistent and effective presence at the Indiana Statehouse executing lobbying aimed at representing the many needs of Indiana’s newspapers from public notice, public access to business and locality issues, the association maintains valuable relationships with the most influential lawmakers. Members are encouraged to be involve and actively advocate for their papers and the association alike! |
Access a comprehensive list of HSPA's member newspapers. | HSPA brings revenue directly to member newspapers through display and other typers of advertising sold and managed by the association. Newspapers, as well as individual sales reps, can also earn a percentage of each ad they sell into HSPA’s statewide classified and 2x2/2x4 network. | Member newspapers have the opportunity to have an upper-level journalism student placed for an HSPA sponsored, paid internship with their newsroom thanks to a generous endowment by the Eugene S. Pulliam Foundation. HSPA handles the application, interview, and placement process. Many Pulliam interns have been hired by member newspapers upon their college graduation. |
